These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the legal services provided by Sato Law Office ("we," "us," or "our firm"). By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Scope of Services

We provide legal services as agreed upon in our engagement letter or retainer agreement. The scope, terms, and fees for each matter will be specified in writing before work commences.

3. Fees and Payment

• Fee Structure: Fees vary depending on the nature and complexity of each matter. We will provide a fee estimate and confirm the fee arrangement in our engagement letter.
• Retainer: Due within 7 days of signing the engagement letter (unless otherwise agreed)
• Success Fee (if applicable): Due within 7 days of matter completion
• Monthly Retainer: Due on the designated date each month
• Payment Methods: Bank transfer, credit card payment

4. Confidentiality

We maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information provided by clients in connection with our services, in accordance with our professional obligations under applicable rules of professional conduct.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Before accepting any engagement, we conduct conflicts checks in accordance with applicable professional rules. If a conflict arises during the engagement, we will promptly notify you and take appropriate action.

6. Termination

Either party may terminate the engagement in accordance with the terms of the engagement letter. Upon termination:

• You remain responsible for fees incurred up to the termination date
• Retainer fees are generally non-refundable
• We will provide reasonable assistance in transitioning the matter to new counsel

7. Limitation of Liability

Our liability for any claims arising from our services shall be limited to the extent permitted by applicable law and professional rules.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting on our website.
